Side note -I'm claustrophobic and I had no problem in these caves, they are very wide and have high ceilings!

First of all, you will get wet. You can do part of it only getting wet to your knees (assuming 5'10"). After the middle where it opens, if you commit to thr second half, be prepared to swim. I wore a helmet, but I climbed a bit and definately bumped my head. The second half needs a good waterproof flashlight as well.

Amazing views, my friend and I were so impressed. Definitely going back more prepared; more flashlights and swimwear and towels. The caves are too cool.

The caves themselves are beautiful and full of wildlife - frogs, small fish and catfish (bats too although we didn't see any!)

You can take the Cave Trail for some exercise, or take Trail 50 (Trans Canada Trail) for an easy walk or ride. Be warned, the last 500m is not bike/stroller friendly. Also, the star of the Cave Trail is poorly marked.

Kids love our trips to the cave. They can go thru it over and over again. On a hot day this is a great way to cool off. We were limited on time so we biked most of the way this time -- saves a lot of tim.

A few friends and I visited the caves about a week ago. There are two trails you can take, one is a very wide gravel road alongside lac phillipe - fairly flat until you reach some stairs that go up through the woods (for a short amount of time until you reach the caves.) The other is a fairly strenuous much longer trail through the woods, past little water falls and streams, a much nicer hike! We took the hike up through the woods there, and the gravel road back - somehow turning it into a 15km day from car back to car. The trail is easily visible with markers but not well marked (as in no way points on map and no indication of how far you are until you are very close!)

Before getting there, I have been told oposite things. Some were telling it was mind blowing, others that it was just all right, but nothing extraordinary. For me, the truth was somewhere in the middle: it is a must see and it is really cool to go in and explore the caves. It is a very pretty set of caves linked with each other and at times challenging for a short person like myself. Overall, I loved the experience but I would not rate it as the best cave exploration I have ever done. It is best to go with friends to share. Usually crowded, I do recommend a head lamp and to go in you swimming suit, because at times you'll have to dive (depending on the level of the water) to keep moving. Not for claustrophobic people.

Go on a day with a nice breeze, pack lots of water, take the hike through the woods, and bring water shoes or another pair of shoes to wear in the caves, this will help you avoid blisters and also so avoid being nick named "squeaky feet" on your trek back to your car.

Only downfall about this trail is that we got lost and instead of only doing a 5km total, we ended doing 14.5km. The signs are not very clear. I recommend you bring a map.
